Discover Rocky Mountain
Ready to take a nice little trip from the luxury apartments for rent in Englewood to one of the most famed natural parks within the United States? We’re talking, of course, about Rocky Mountain National Park, and if you’re interested in learning a bit more about what trip like this would entail, we suggest you read on, as we cover what lies ahead.
Your Adventure to the Rocky Mountains
Let’s say we’re starting out at The Palmer in Englewood. From there, it’ll take about two hours to get to the park, traveling US-36 East and the Denver Boulder Turnpike. Once you’re at the park, though, you’ll truly feel like you’re “on top of the world,” as many of the Rocky Mountain’s promotional materials claim. In a nutshell:
“Rocky Mountain National Park’s 415 square miles encompass and protect spectacular mountain environments. Enjoy Trail Ridge Road – which crests at over 12,000 feet including many overlooks to experience the subalpine and alpine worlds – along with over 300 miles of hiking trails, wildflowers, wildlife, starry nights, and fun times. In a world of superlatives, Rocky is on top!”
Now, how should you approach you visit to the Rocky Mountain National Park? That all depends on your personal preferences, as there is so much to do and see here you probably won’t be able to experience it all in a single visit. While we certainly wouldn’t tell you what you should do specifically, we can suggest some broad strokes that might be a good idea to follow, like figuring out which regions of the park you want to see. By-and-large, the park is divided into five geographical zones:
- Region 1 — Moose and Big Meadows
- Region 2 — Alpine Region
- Region 3 — Wilderness
- Region 4 — Heart of the Park
- Region 5 — Waterfalls and Backcountry
Each region will offer something different in terms of aesthetic, wildlife, etc., so it’ll be a good idea for you to research these in advance and figure out which you want to see the most while you’re at the park. You’ll also want to figure out if you’ll be heading to any of the visitor centers to get yourself oriented before heading out into the thick of the mountains, or as a staging ground to participate in one of the ranger-led programs that are so common at the park. They’re great experiences, but maybe you prefer to have a freestyle adventure through the park? The choice is yours, so be sure to learn as much as you can beforehand, and plan the best adventure for you and your crew once you arrive.
